Sophie James –

I sent my horse to Tor on schooling livery while I was working abroad for 3 months this winter. The decision to leave him with someone else, opposed to turning him away, was a difficult one.

I met Tor on a BD High Performance Camp and spent time getting to know her and the way she is with the horses. Her riding style and knowledge pool made the choice of where to send my boy an easy one.

I received regular messages while I was away, keeping me up to date and confirming my choice in Tor was the correct one. Due to the appalling weather condition, my boy had re-developed mud fever, however the way in which Tor handled this could not have been faulted; the vets where involved and the condition effectively and quickly managed. Throughout I was left un anxious, allowing me to focus on my work while away.

Upon returning home, I found his schooling had progressed leaps and bounds. I left him in September successfully competing at medium level, with green changes and strengthening work needed in order to progress. He is now competing at advanced medium with balanced flying changes, scoring me 7.5/8’s, as well as a strong 1/4 canter pirouette at home. His trot work has also found another gear which is improving my competition results drastically. His fitness and condition had also improved allowing me to continue his training from where Tor’s beautiful work finished.

I could not recommend Tor Fenwick’s schooling livery package enough and would not hesitate to send my horse to her again in the future.

Cara McKinnon –

I started having lessons with Tor just a couple of months ago, and within such a short space of Caratime, I have progressed from coming last in prelim dressage classes, to winning novice classes!

Tor’s enthusiasm and positive attitude makes every lesson very enjoyable; she has increased my confidence significantly, even to the point that I entered and competed in my first ever pre-intro one-day-event and thoroughly enjoyed it, which is something I never thought would be possible.

Tor has the drive and passion to get the most out of both me and my horse and she continues to push us both forward each time. She listens to everything I say and always helps me on anything I’m unsure about, which makes me feel confident that I am doing everything correctly. She never rushes anything which relaxes both me and my horse, and this has allowed us to improve confidently and correctly.

I continue to achieve things that I never thought I could, but it’s only thanks to Tor that I am able to. I cannot believe just how much my riding has improved since having lessons with her. She has taught me so much in such a short space of time in varied, knowledgeable and enjoyable lessons, which is why I look forward to each one.

Hello, I know this may seem a strange question but when you ride do you like to have a heavy contact or do you like the horse to be in self carriage!

The rest is history, my first lesson with Tor was excellent! She not only makes it fun but achieves excellent results. As a member of a Heavy Horse Club that competes across Europe I was selected to represent Team Grande Bretagne in the dressage to music element. Tor helped me develop the floor plan for the test and coached me to win the ridden section of the competition.

I would not hesitate to recommend Tor for her excellent teaching skills and empathy with the horse.

Thanks to Tor, the improvements seen in my young ex racing TB livery have been incredible. After having her work with us for just 3 months he became much stronger behind the saddle, forward going and lighter in contact. She has a very sympathetic approach with young horses and novice riders yet is still able to encourage/strive for more and better, without ruling out the ‘fun’ element of riding and training. I highly recommend Tor as a rider/teacher and will continue to work with and hopefully compete with her in the foreseeable future. She is highly organised and competitively priced.

I have been training with tor for the last 10 months. I find her lessons very interesting with lots of FOT5698_resized FOT7011_resizedhelpful hints and tips on various training issues. She is full of energy and enthusiasm which always uplifts you and your horse. Tor will listen to your views as well whilst your riding which I always attribute to an excellent trainer. She is very good for my riding especially just before a show for a real wake up call to get me back on track and attack a dressage test. I have regular lessons with Debbie Lush and Matt Hicks and Tor’s lessons are on a par. I would recommend any level rider to have a lesson with Tor. My girls love her clinics at my yard and they are always fully booked.
